Okay, enough of the bellyaching, Leesa.
Yes, there are way too many wacky lists out there that say they’re honouring women in tech, but do nothing but provide a good laugh (or a vigorous head shake). It’s now time for women to put together a list of savvy women in technology.
Tara Hunt has started a very good list of women in Web 2.0. She’s getting alot of help through her readers who are leaving their own suggestions. While listing great women in Web 2.0 is a monumental feat, I will focus on the Top 10 Savvy Women in Podcasting (Connie, your suggestion of “smart women” triggered this list, so thank you).
Every day over the next 10-days, I’ll present to you just one woman in podcasting who’s making an impact. I selected women from education, law, media and a couple of women who I consider podcasting pioneers. One of the women who made my list will surprise you as I’ve done nothing but complain about her in past posts.
After I present to you the 10, I will also list a few more women who are ones to watch in podcasting in 2007. They may not have a buzz as yet, they may not have contributed anything significant to podcasting, but something’s stirring in their camp and I predict that these women will do something amazing in podcasting in the coming months.
How did I select these women? Admittedly, I stole some ideas from Tara’s list, so here goes:
- She has to be podcasting (either producing, hosting or both).
- She has to have contributed something to the field of podcasting over the past 12-months (a book, an event, speaking about podcasting at conferences or just building awareness using mainstream media).
- I have to either have met the woman (virtually or in person), admire the woman or just generally admire her for her achievements.
Here’s the complete list of my top 10.
Technorati: women, women in podcasting, women in technology, podcasting
Thanks Scott and Karin for your vote of confidence and for letting me know that I can be part of this list.
And I won’t spoil it for you Karin, but you may just see your name 🙂
No such list without Penny Haynes, if you ask me 🙂 – And Leesa you can put yourself up there, too. You both have a vast network, and I would like to think I´m part of it 🙂 – and you know hos to share, share, share – that´s what it is all about.
Well Leesa this one is simple. Your name should go at the top of the list!
