Nothing is more awesome than seeing a collection of Black women slaying in a STEM profession (STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, math).
It’s certainly not easy trying to excel in an industry dominated by men…
But these Black female astronauts and fighter pilot have battled those setbacks and are on top of their game.
From left to right, the women are Stephanie Wilson, Joan Higginbotham, Mae Jemison, Yvonne Cagle and fighter pilot Shawna Kimbrell.
This photo is missing two people:
- Vernice “Fly Girl” Armour, America’s first Black female combat fighter pilot.
- Jeanette J. Epps, a Black female astronaut, who hasn’t flown on a space mission yet.
Congrats ladies!
