Just read that Scott McNealy totally skipped over the blogging thing and launched a podcast instead.
I’m not surprised. I don’t think his strength is in writing. In the 5-years I worked at Sun Microsystems, I sent 2 emails to Scott. He always replied, usually the same day, however, I can count on my 2 hands the number of words he typed up in his email responses to me.
Some people are much better at speaking than at writing. I don’t like writing and hence the reason why I love podcasting. You may be wondering:
“Well, Leesa, if you can’t stand writing, how the heck are you going to write an entire book on making money using a podcast?”
Funny you should ask. I actually talk into a microphone, send the file to be transcribed, then just edit each section. I tried writing each page thinking that my enthusiasm would be the adrenaline I’d need to get the pages written. Sadly, I was becoming overwhelmed, so I talk, transcribe then edit instead.
So, congrats to Scott for taking the plunge. And thanks for being one of the few CEOs using a podcast to communicate with your peers, customers and employees.
