This week, I chronicle the mistakes, missteps and muck ups that cost me big in 2007. Although I listed these in an article I wrote almost three years ago, it seems that I’m still repeating some of the same mistakes.
So, I’m listing the 5 mistakes that cost me big in 2007 and what lessons I learned. I’m releasing these daily to help you help me not repeat these in 2008.
Mistake, Misstep, Muck Up #4 – Hiding
In 2007, one project consumed my every waking moment for about 4 months. That was my book, Podcasting for Profit. Between March and July 2007, I focused on nothing else but the completion of my manuscript.
Subsequently, I stopped blogging daily. I stopped attending social media events. I stopped commenting on other people’s blogs. I stopped podcasting. I stopped alot of the things that put me in the forgotten, but not missed pile.
Instead of taking a break, I went into complete hiding. I completely removed myself from “the conversation.” And going into hiding means that when you come out, there are heaps of hurdles to jump over to make your presence known again.
LESSON LEARNED – Taking a break is cool. Hiding isn’t.
