The big announcement took a little longer to make due to some changes that were happening, but I can now say what I’ll be working on over the next 60-days.
I just signed a contract to write a book on how to make money using a podcast. My publisher (I like how that sounds) is MaxPress, who also publish titles for IBM. The manuscript is due on April 15th and the book will be ready for sale just before the Podcast & New Media Expo takes place at the end of September.
This book happened because of a few people.
- First, I want to thank MaxPress for taking a chance on a new author. You’ve given me a unique challenge and I’m looking forward to delivering.
- Paul Colligan – You’re awesome! You knew that I was itching to publish a book and you have helped me achieve this goal by connecting me to MaxPress.
- Scott Bourne – I don’t know if you remember the advice you gave me in the speaker’s room at PPE last year, but that was exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for the encouragement and the feedback. I’ve already declared you as my mentor, so you’re stuck with me.
- Jason Van Orden – I don’t know if you remember our conversation in that Boston pub on Saturday night during Podcamp Boston, but thanks for being so honest with me about the book writing process. It helped me to know what to look for.
- John C. Havens – I can’t forget you. Even though we couldn’t work together, I value your calm demeanor while I ranted on and on about the various people we were meeting along the way.
- And lastly, to everyone who reads this blog. I’m looking to each of you to give me some feedback and comments as I continue to write. Once the blog for the book is up, I’m going to start podcasting my thoughts and I truly hope you’ll contribute to my meanderings so I can come up with a solid product that each of you will be proud to endorse.

Congrats Leesa,
This is really fabulous news. Now everyone will get to know you as the podcasting superstar we already know you to be.
Give ’em heck!
Leesa – congratulations – you must be thrilled. I look forward to meeting you in person at the Corporate Podcasting Summit in London.
Ambitious indeed. But, I’m going to do this using the very tools I’ll be writing about. Methinks doing it this way will make it way easier.
Leesa:
Just two monhts to write a book? Ambitious timetable, indeed! Here’s hoping you at least take a break on February 24-25. I hear there’s a big podcasting event going on in Toronto that weekend.
Congratulations!
That’s great news. Congrats. Looking forward to getting a copy to read and a few more to hand out.
Thanks for all the kind words. I appreciate it. It’s good to know that the community of podcasters feel that this book is needed.
Hey Leesa,
I can’t wait to read/review the book and I wish you/Paul the best. My only request is a signed copy as soon as possible and a Leesa Barnes T-Shirt.
Leesa,
Congrats on the book. I know it will be incredible and I can’t wait to read it.

Leesa
Congratulations, and I cannot wait to read the book. If it as as much content, fun and energy that the author has then it will be a bestseller!
Anna
Best wishes with this exciting project, Leesa!
