Jack Van Impe and Larry King Makes Podcasting Relevant to Mom

Get this. I’ve been podcasting since late 2005. I even have a book coming out on podcasting. Despite having a podcasting expert in her own home, my mother took an interest in podcasting only this past week. Here’s how the conversation went.

“Leesa, I want an iPod.”

“Why?”

“Because Larry King said I can get his podcast that way.”

“Oh.”

“And Jack Van Impe has a podcast. So does Anderson Cooper.”

“Okay Mom.”

“So, how do I get the podcast on the iPod?”

“Easy. I’ll get you set up and show you what to do.”

“Oh good. How much does the iPod cost?”

“As little as $100 to as much as $400.  You know, you can get Larry King’s podcast right on your computer. You know that, right?”

“Yes, but I want an iPod.”

Podcasting has become relevant to my mom, not because her daughter does this thing for a living, but because Larry King tells her so every night. Go figure.

I know, Leesa – they don´t listen to their young daughters – only to older men 🙂

My mom only really made an effort to understand, when the magazine she gets from the organisation for retired teachers had an article (featuring me) in it. Oooooh, thats what you do, she said.
