I was watching Young & the Restless today and there were two quotes that I took notice of. Both were made by the person who plays Jack Abbott and each give a clear picture as to people’s awareness of social media.

In the first instance, Jack was in front of the media to talk about an audio file that was recently released. In fact, Jack said:

“I know many of you are aware of the audio file that was podcasted and broadcasted yesterday.”

Amazing! The next comment was the funniest I have ever heard, but truly demonstrates people’s current attitudes towards traditional media. Victor Newman, Jack’s rival, steps into the room to sarcastically congratulate Jack on lying to the media. To which Jack said:

“The news is a fickle business. Today’s headlines wrap tomorrow’s fish.”

Hats off to the Y&R writing team for their own awareness of social media.
