Podonomics explores business podcasting tactics. In Episode 008, Leesa Barnes – in a very groggy voice – talks about Podcamp Toronto and why organizing an unconference is important to building a community. This recording is unedited, unabridged and uncensored. Enjoy at your own risk.

Great meeting you Leeza. I had a blast and can hardly wait until the next time we can all get together.
It’s was hard not to be excited at podcamp… There was SO much information, so many knowledgeable people there, and so much fun…. It was a real eye opener at how amazing and evolved our pod world has become.
Take the time to bask in the rewards of your efforts, it’s well earned
You and your co-organizers deserve a big hand for such a great event. It was a pleasure to hobble with you all weekend!
See you in June!
Thanks for the mention and the tag! It was great meeting you and The Community. This was my first un-conference. Had I known about just getting up and giving a presentation I would have loved to do one on Podcasting 101. Perhaps in Kingston…
In light of this I have started a series on Podcasting 101 at my blog, incorporating some of the great information from Podcamp for all the newbies out there. I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to podcasting, but not technology. I still remember the pain of figuring out how to post and get stuff on iTunes etc. I hope I can help some people.
By far the best conference I have been to.
I have to relate a funny story from prior to Podcamp. My wife in in real estate and is very busy on the weekends. Our 11 year old started on the “what am I going to do this weekend…I’m going to be so bored”. I replied that I could take her to Podcamp. To which my wife and daughter looked at each other and started laughing as they left the room. To which I responded…”or maybe not”.
Leesa!
Congratulations on an incredible event. PodCamp Toronto was an historic event and you, Jay, Brent, Mitch and Julien — and everyone else who pitched in to make PCTO happen — should be incredibly proud of yourselves.
I can’t wait to listen to this Podcast.
Take care and see you at PAB!
