Diversity at the Social Media Telesummit

I stumbled upon a post on the Blogworld Expo blog stating that their conference was the most diverse in terms of gender in all of blogosphere. Thirty percent of its speakers were women. That doesn’t include the 3 women who had conflicts and could no longer attend (yours truly included).

Picking up on that post, I want to share with you how diverse the speakers are at the upcoming Social Media Telesummit. Diversity to me doesn’t just mean gender. It also includes sexual orientation, country of residence, language spoken, ethnicity and other factors.

Let me break it down for you:

  1. 2 of the speakers are homosexual (one is gay, the other is lesbian).
  2. 3 of the speakers are visible minorities (one is Asian, two are Black).
  3. 5 of the speakers live in countries outside of North America (Denmark, England, Ireland and 2 from Australia).
  4. 3 of the speakers who lived in North America have moved to other countries in the past 60 days (Latin America (1), South America (1) and Africa (1).
  5. 6 of the speakers speak Canadian (and yes, we do say “eh?” at the end of our sentences, but only in the company of other Canadians ;).

Pretty diverse, eh?

Thanks for the link Leesa. I agree, diversity goes far beyond gender. I think we had decent representation there as well.

I would add diversity in opinion to the list which again I think we excelled in.

I am going to have to check out this telesummit.
