Here’s a quick 2 minute video explaining the 3 things to look for when buying or choosing video capturing software. The 3 things video capturing software should do is:
- Capture video from a variety of sources.
- Provide various production options so you can bring your video to life.
- Allow you to share your video in a variety of formats.

Leesa,
Thanks for the great tips.
I have a health and wellness video podcast called Vitamin Junkeys. I have followed in the footsteps of a friend of mine who has a tech podcast, called LabRats, and provide my podcast in 5 different formats (.wmv, .mp3, .mov, .flv, .m4v).
I’m realizing that my target audience is different than his (less tech savvy) and that I don’t really need to invest the time or disk space in the other versions. I need flash, (.flv) for displaying on my website, and .m4v for submitting to iTunes, but I haven’t and many downloads for the .mp3 or .wmv versions. So, I will likely discontinue those versions in about a month unless demand picks up.
So, what I’m trying to say is, think of who your target audience is and how they will be watching your video, before you invest in extra software to provide the video in ALL formats.
My goodness, I didn’t realize that my voice was so rough. Next time, I won’t record so early in the morning. Yikes!
