Inner Field Trip® Workbook
Available for order, the Inner Field Trip® is published by Row House Publishing and distributed by Simon & Schuster.
Here’s the info from the back cover:
Based on mental wellness advocate and writer Leesa Renée Hall’s longstanding work, Inner Field Trip provides a user-friendly, nonjudgmental, and introspective template for exploring our inner biases about race and other forms of inequity. The cornerstone of Hall’s model involves confronting one’s “Inner Oppressor.”
The Inner Oppressor is a manifestation of internalized cultural messages that drive us to judge others but also works to sabotage our own needs. Expressive art activities and self-reflective journaling prompts in the workbook help you “meet” your Inner Oppressor while accessing your innermost trail. The 30-day program in workbook form takes readers—who become active participants in the experience—on a deep dive from which they will emerge changed.
The workbook is available for shipping worldwide. Click here to order now!
Inner Field Trip® Basecamp
After being on Patreon since 2017, the needs of the community have grown and we have found a new home on Mighty Networks. I’m forever grateful to Patreon for the stability, safety, and support it provided to me and thousands of patrons I guided on their internal treks on the platform since 2017. With that said, Mighty Networks provides more features and we moved over the to the new spot slowly.
On January 17, 2024, the figurative trail opens to new trekkers. If you want to be notified when the trail opens, click here to add your name to the waitlist.
The Artist Me
In Fall 2021, I took a course taught by a psychotherapist on how clinicians, coaches, and therapists can use expressive arts to help their clients heal from trauma. Each week, we used a different art modality, such as pastels, clay, paints, just to name a few, to understand how to help our clients work through complex emotions.
When I started graduate studies in January 2022, I used art, specifically acrylic paints on a canvas, to improve and protect my mental wellness as I went through the very intense program. I followed classes taught by Yvette St. Amant, Suzanne Allard, and Nicki Traikos to relax and make beautiful paintings after studying counselling methodologies, reading pages of journal articles, and confronting the darkness of human behaviour.
After following dozens of tutorials for months, I started to paint original pieces. When I launch my new website, I’ll include some of my pieces.
Graduate Studies
As mentioned above, I’m completing a graduate degree in counselling psychology. I finished the course requirements for my degree; I now have to complete the practicum phase. I’m doing all this to become a licensed therapist.
Fundraiser
The fundraiser I had planned for Fall 2021 did not happen due to COVID protocols. Every time I chose a new date, it had to be abandoned due to sheltering-in-place protocols enacted by the government in my province. I still intend to do this fundraiser because it’s for a cause that I’m passionate about. The details are being worked out, so once I have all the details in place, I’ll share far and wide. This will possibly be the most challenging thing I’ll do and I’m excited to see where this takes me.
Why This Page Exists…
I’m happiest when I’m creating, not consuming; dreaming, not doing. Yet, one of my sisters pointed out that I have so many unfinished projects. Creating means nothing if I don’t finish it. For example:
- Where would we be if Tolkien never finished his books?
- Or, if Beethoven didn’t complete his symphonies?
- How many babies would not have been born if Barry White decided not to finish recording his songs?
That’s why I get up before 5am every morning to write. That’s why I say “No” a lot.
If I say “No,” it’s not personal. I’ve become more aligned with my purpose. Most things end up being a distraction from becoming a better ancestor, so I say “No” more than I say “Yes” these days.
